Santa Rita Road
(Whale Rock Reservoir as seen from Old Creek Road)
This ride is all fire road and paved road (mostly fire road). You can ride all the way to Templeton from Cayucos for a long out an back, or shorten the ride to your liking.
Take highway 1 south to Cayucos from San Luis Obispo. Turn right on Old Creek Road. Look for the turnouts on the side of Whale Rock Reservoir and park. Keep riding on Old Creek Road until you reach Santa Rita Road.
The road will start to climb steeply until you reach the top of the ride at 6 1/2 miles. This is a good place to turn back.
If you want more, continue on Santa Rita Road and you will eventually reach a paved road at the 11 mile mark. This paved road will take you to Vineyard Road in Templeton.
